Popular Question

Clear, straightforward answers to our most popular questions about durability, drying times, maintenance, and project prep.

Light foot traffic is usually safe after 24 to 48 hours, but we recommend waiting up to 7 days for the coating to fully cure before moving heavy furniture back.

Solvent-based polyurethanes do emit a strong odor during application and drying. We ensure maximum ventilation throughout the process, but we also offer low-odor, water-based alternatives if scent sensitivity is a concern.

Solvent-based polyurethane is thicker, has a stronger odor, takes longer to dry, and leaves a warm amber tint. Water-based polyurethane is low-odor, dries incredibly fast, and cures completely clear, keeping the wood’s natural color intact.

Once fully cured, polyurethane finishes are entirely non-toxic and highly safe for both pets and children. Because of its scratch-resistant properties, it is actually one of the best choices for busy households with active pets.

Use a soft-bristled broom or microfiber dust mop daily to remove abrasive grit. For washing, use a damp microfiber mop with a pH-neutral timber floor cleaner. Avoid harsh steam mops, wet mopping, and wax-based polishers.

Absolutely. Polyurethane acts as a protective shield. Once the stain has completely dried and cured, we apply multiple layers of clear polyurethane on top to lock in the color and protect it from daily wear.
